Worth = Value + Purpose

In my sermon yesterday, I mentioned an important understanding of worth. Worth is value plus purpose. Something can be valuable but if it isn’t fulfilling its purpose it lacks worth. Gold coins, for example, have great value when considering trade and finance. But if you’re stranded on a deserted island, a gold coin won’t have any worth. We have worth because we have value as those made in the image of God AND we have purpose – we are created to be God’s representatives in the world.
